چکیده
This study is to investigate the capability of producing lignin-based phenol-formaldehyde adhesive (LBPFA) with lignin derived from coir pith collected in Mekong Delta, Viet Nam. The LBPFA synthetic process underwent non chemical modifications minimize petrochemicals and energy. Effective factors as reaction time, temperature various contents phenol substitution were examined. Physical, thermal properties containing formaldehyde content, viscosity, solid Fourier transformed infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), tensile strength, modulus strain conducted. was successfully synthesized at levels substituting for phenol. LBPFA’s parameters accordance GB/T14372-2006 standard. optimum replacement content synthesis identified 180 minutes, 900C 40% wt/wt, respectively. showed highest dry wet strengths 14.42 MPa 7.66 on wooden boards compared corresponding figures commercial resin 2.98 0 MPa, For plywood, bending strength shown 15.97 20.16

Synthesis of Humin-Phenol-Formaldehyde Adhesive
Humins are low-value-added byproducts from the biomass acid hydrolysis process. In the present work, humins were first employed as a phenol replacement for synthesis of modified phenol-formaldehyde adhesives through a two-step process. In this process, humins were first utilized to obtain alkaline soluble products, mainly consisting of phenolics, through a hydrothermal process. The obtained alk...
متن کاملSustainable Bio-Based Phenol-Formaldehyde Resoles Using Hydrolytically Depolymerized Kraft Lignin.
In this study bio-based bio-phenol-formaldehyde (BPF) resoles were prepared using hydrolytically depolymerized Kraft lignin (DKL) as bio-phenol to partially substitute phenol. The effects of phenol substitution ratio, weight-average molecular weight (Mw) of DKL and formaldehyde-to-phenol (F/P) ratio were also investigated to find the optimum curing temperature for BPF resoles. The results indic...
متن کاملDevelopment and characterization of groundnut shell lignin modified phenol formaldehyde wood adhesive
Lignin modified phenol formaldehyde wood adhesives have been prepared by replacing phenol with the groundnut shell lignin (GNSL) at varying weight percentages. The optimization of weight percent incorporation of GNSL was carried out in respect to mechanical properties. It was found that a maximum of up to 50 wt.% of phenol in the phenol formaldehyde (PF) adhesive can be substituted by GNSL to o...
متن کاملSoy-Based Adhesive Cross-Linked by Phenol-Formaldehyde-Glutaraldehyde
To prepare a low-formaldehyde soy-based adhesive with good water resistance, phenol-formaldehyde modified with glutaraldehyde (PFG) with lower free phenol and free formaldehyde contents was used to cross-link the soy-based adhesive. The results showed that the mechanical properties and water resistance of plywood prepared with soy-based adhesive with PFG was better than that of plywood with the...
متن کاملReinforcement of Lignin-Based Phenol-Formaldehyde Adhesive with Nano-Crystalline Cellulose (NCC): Curing Behavior and Bonding Property of Plywood
The curing behavior of lignin-based phenol-formaldehyde (LPF) resin with different contents of nano-crystalline cellulose (NCC) was studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) at different heating rates (5, 10 and 20 ̊C/min) and the bonding property was evaluated by the wet shear strength and wood failure of two-ply plywood panels after soaking in water (48 hours at room temperature and f...
